because throwing money out gives them votes and keeps them in power. The free-be getters love when money is thrown at them.
And I'm not rich, and loved my Tax cut, having money back in my pocket, and not in the free-be getters pockets is a great thing!

It is the same with global warming. If you don't put the money in to trying to do something about it nothing changes at all but for the worse. So why not teach someone how to weld or what ever so they can be putting a little money in the retirement of the ageing? You will get old and need to live just like the old folks now. What happens when you are out of a job and you break your arm and you can not pay your bill. Should the doctor send you away because you don't have the money or would you rather put some money in social issues and be able to get the work done. You do know doctors need to be paid as well.
Or I guess we could take the easy out and if you don't have money you can just lay around and die. Maybe you would lay there till your bones turn to dust because no one is going to take the time to box you up and put you away. Or do you think the money you give that scam called religion is going to do anything to help you? They will take more money and tell you that they will pray for you. I'm sure that will fix your broken arm.
Think about it for a minute. Maybe put down that joint first so your mind will not be cloudy.

The only relevant point your question asks is that liberals seem to be the only ones that have an agenda to throw money at social issues. It has to do with having a moral concience and an ideal that common decency towards man is a goal that makes sense in order for society to advance. It has to do with spending taxpayers monies on programs that benefit the many, rather than the few. Trickle down economics--a proven failed economic theory-is based on the premise that giving away monies/welfare to corporations and tax breaks to those who don't need it will result in the rich investing more in the public, not so. They tend to re-invest in their own interests and politicians who try and pass laws that further benefit their interests. Answer me this--What are the results of giving no-bid contracts to Haliburton for the occupation in Iraq and Hurricaine Katrina other than abuse, crime, and a need for accountability? I'll take social security, welfare, foodstamps, and the results of their accomplishments without hesitation any day of the week.

Sounds like you've already made your mind up - so are you really looking for a thoughtful serious answer?
I'll go on the assumption that you are.
First off liberals don't think that throwing money at a problem social, defense related, corporate or otherwise solves the problem. Problems need ideas, people power, ingenuity, supplies, and yes money. This is true for "social" problems like poverty, homelessness, substance abuse/ dependency, nutrition, education, etc. It's also true for our nations defense for supporting business, etc.
I could ask you the converse; why do some conservatives think throwing money at defense solves the problem?

My answer to that is this: Why do some conservatives think ignoring it will make it go away? I'm not being sarcastic; I'm dead serious...
This country cannot survive without it's people, and by ignoring social issues, we start to cave within...

Serious question ?? If you want a serious answer, you better give some examples of what you're talking about.
You can't post a vague question and expect a detailed answer.

Define "some liberals". Define "social issues".
You're not curious; you're picking a quarrel.
