You factor the numerator and the demoninator of a fraction, then cancel out any similar terms.

Usually simplifying involves making the smallest number of displayed items in an answer. It is usually done by taking all the fractional pieces and reducing them to the least common denominator. Then take out all of the integers, adding them to the ones you already have, and this will leave only one fractional part. For Example:
1/2+1/4+5/8+3/4+1/8=
Least common denomenator is 8 so:
4/8+2/8+5/8+6/8+1/8=18/8
Simplifying 18/8 = 2 2/8 or 2 1/4

Works if you had subtractions in the equation too!
I hope that this helps!

well, lets say you have a fraction problem:

4/10 + 5/25

To find out the problem, you have to simplify by divinding the numbers to the lowest possible numbers

4/10 / 2 = 2/5
5/25 / 5= 1/5

then add

2 1 3
- + - = -
5 5 5

collect like terms

add the terms with same sign

use distibutive property.

instead of %n write n/100
