I mean whenever the phone rings I cringe. I dont know if it means I dont like my friends anymore or if I just dont like explaining to them why I never pick up or dont call back. I hate calling people and I hate answering the phone. Whats wrong with me?

Not sure if there is a "medical condition" affiliated with this, but I've shared similiar situation. It's usually just avoidance of drama for me. I don't want to hear the same melo-dramas, or sometimes I'm just not wanting to be the perky person I usually am, or I am having an off day. I 've not wanted to answer because of how I usually handle calls. I'm perky, give advice, good listener, very attentive,, but... then I have those off days, where I don't want to listen, or I'm spacey, or I dont' have the energy to put so much of myself into another person's life. I wouldnt' answer because I didnt' want to expose to them that "other side" or seem rude or disinterested. Sometimes people can be emotional vampires, meaning, they come to you to boost their egos, or have you tell them what they want to hear, or they need validation on a position, and that can be exhausting.

Seems you likely have some great traits, (as you have lots of friends), and you might not feel like exposing that you aren't there for them when they need you. If so, by dodging the phone, you're creating more anxiety on yourself. I'd advice you to turn off the phone from time to time, even change your message stating "I'm here, but I'd like some personal time right now, but I'll try to call you back".. I say shut it off, because viewing the caller info will just make you feel compelled to angst over it more. Don't feel compelled to even answer the phone, or carry it around so much. Trust me, if someone wants/needs you for an emergency, they know where you live. You can't save the world, and likely a caller will move on to someone who is available. To answer your question, there is NOTHING wrong with you, but if it becomes so overwhelming, discuss your concerns with a license professional. I wish you well, and best of luck!

I'm another telephonophobic !!!!
Thank you for bringing up this questions; i have this condition for years; and wonder what is wrong with me. I used to work for a hospital in billing and collections; so every-time the phone rang it was nothing good; people either could not pay or complained about something; so i developed that phobia;and link the phone ringing with something bad.
I admired people on cellular phones at all times; and wondered, how in the world they do it.I'm to the point, the only people i call is my daughter and sister, just because they are always calling me. thank you for bringing it out to light .

I get this too. I rarely answer the phone when it rings - even on my mobile when I know who is calling. It can be my best friend and I have no problems at all speaking to them. When the phone suddenly goes off my heart literally jumps into my throat and panics me. Personally I think it's because I like to pre-plan everything. I like to know what and when and who is going to happen. So when someone suddenly calls me it freaks me out as I'm not prepared. Even if I know someone is due to call me then it worries me for hours beforehand. I guess phone conversations are hard as you can't have silences like normal conversations. I don't know if there is a name or a condition as such but I'm sure there are lots like us!

that is no longer the monitoring of suspicious calls that's the indisputable fact that they are being refrained from notifying a choose as is the regulation. the telephone tappers do no longer even could notify the court docket formerly the tapping starts off and have 40 8 hours after to tell the court docket, yet they decline to tell a court docket the reason of the twine tapping. that's the form of ingredient completed in a dictatorship no longer a democracy.
