If Beauty Pageant should be banned, then:
1. Academy Awards should be banned.
2. Nobel prizes should be banned.
3. Music Awards should be banned.
4. Forbes Awards should be banned.
5. Art Awards should be banned.
6. Etc.
Therefore, no. Beauty Pageants should not be banned, unless we ban ALL competing competitions where awards are given. People should be awarded for their hard work. It certainly does take an amount of work to be in a beauty pageant, which is how they make it there in the first place, and they certainly should be rewarded for it.

No I don't think that pageants should be banned. I have been in pageants sense I was 9 years old and I love every minute of it. I have made so many friends from pageants. The hair and make-up is no diffrent then dance and cheerleading, I don't think pageants should have a bad rap just because of one little girl. I think people need to try one to see what they are really about.

I don't know if I'd go as far as banned... but maybe dulled down a little bit. All they're doing is glorifying the female body and it seems to me that all they focus on is the outer beauty. I know they have talent things and all that, but who watches those things that really actually pays attention to that part of the show. Either way, I don't watch them anyways, but I think that a beauty pageant is just a simple waste of time (unless it's for scholarhips or something like that, then it can be useful. Otherwise...).

I think Beauty pagents for anyone under age 18 should be banned. It is a sick way of parading children around in sexualy explicit manner. I mean a 5 year old wearing makeup and trying to look like she's 19? This is a pedophiles dream! At 18 a woman should be old enough to make the choice. Teenagers who enter now are usually under the pressure of their parents and succumb to depression, eating dissorders, sleep disorders, stress, etc etc.
All for what purpose? To show how pretty they are? Can't we instill better sense of self into our young women - - or are they only worthy for their ability to provide entertainment with a pretty face?

I don't think they should be banned. I could never see myself competing in one because I don't think that girls/women should be judging each other on the way they they look in a bathing suit or an evening gown, but if girls want to put themselves through that, then Im not going to judge them. But it should be for fun, I think, and not to compare w/ others.

Yes. We are already such a vain, shallow and obsessed on looks society that these things just breed more insecurities. And the ones for the little girls are just not right at all!! I'm sorry but these vain self centered moms who would exploit their little girls like this and the lessons these little girls are learning is immoral!

Yes. I think they should be a thing of the past as should be many other attitudes about women. I think they are demeaning themselves by allowing themselves to be paraded around like a piece of meat or a show animal like a dog or horse.

YES. I would never do that to my child. They never get to be themselves, they always have to wear makeup and stand pretty, and ALWAYS smile. A child should have time to be a child, nothing else. When the child get's older, they don't know their own identity, becasue they've been pretending to be happy all those years on stage. I just don't agree with those moms who do it.
