Ok, thanks for the help everyone. I had to find the full header option in my hotmail to track a yahoo mailing (long story). But, I got it.

YES every email has header, click on it and it would say you the ISP tht he/she used ...and contacting those ISP you can know which IP does tht email belongs.

but yahoo or gmail or any other email service provider would not tell unless you have government orders.coz it may be voilation of opening someone's identity.

try this..
http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation

http://www.arin.net/whois/index.html

http://www.email-lookup.com/

but still you can make it....lemme tell you how...

thing you need to be known are...your IP and email service provider's IP

now i assume you know them and here's step by step revealment..

1. First make all the internet application closed and now open a browser with your email .

2. now attach a file to it.

3. Convince tht guy to send your mail at you// m not sure wether it wld work if he dont send reply to u...
but if you made him it would definetely work.

4. now when you get tht email .

5:OPEN YOUR MSDOS (PROMPT)

6-TYPE THIS COMMAND: NETSTAT ,THEN PRESS ENTER,IN THE LIST WILL APPAIR ALL CONNECTIONS OPEN AND PORTS WHERE THAT CONNECTIONS COMUNICATE.

NOW IN THAT LIST YOU WILL SEE MUTCH IP AND ADDRESS,WHERE YOU SEE :ESTABILISHED.. PAY ATENTION AND ESCLUDE YOUR IP AND THE MESSENGER IP ADDRESS,ONE OF THATS IP ITS FROM YOUR VICTIM.

IF YOU WILL BE SURE WHAT IP ITS FROM THE VICTIM.. TRY TO PUT THATS IP IN THE TRACE ROUTE TO SEE FROM WHERE IT IS SO YOU CAN BE SURE YOU FIND THE CORECT IP!

have fun!! :))

You cant find out for certain. If it's spam or using some remailer you will more than likely be unable to trace it. You can try though, If you have your email client set to show full headers, it will display the IP address of the mail server where it originated. Copy down the IP address. Then do a google search for a traceroute application. This one works. http://www.mapulator.com Input the IP address from the email header, this has a map and will traceroute to the IP address to tell you the origin.
