Fourtogo - - he was a hawaiin point siamese that we got as a kitten after we found him near dead - he had been cought in a car fan. We took him to the vet and got him all fixed up - we decided he had lost 5 of his nine lives and had "Four to go".
Which also morphed into DoDo because he was dumb enough when he got loose outside he would run strait under a car. HA!

Anytime I hear or think of a name I like, I write it down on a paper I keep in my AKC Breed Book. Then, when I get a new pet, I see if any fit. I have had a lot of pets, and still have a long list! Ones I have used: Cats: Tana, Zildjian, Kedah. Dogs: Bull's-Eye (not named from 'the list', he was white with a round spot center of his head), Phoenix, Snafu.
If you have a hobby or profession with interesting words, those are fun to use, too - I knew a golf enthusiast that named his Schanuzer "Putter", and a chemist that named her dog "Beeker".

I just name my pets after their personality and their look plus I check out a baby name site for extra ideas.
Right now I have three rattie guys named Sage, Sterling, and Forrest. I also have a chocolate lab named Hershey. I named my dog when I was much younger.
For some reason though I'm enjoying giving my rats alternative names, I really love interesting and different names.

I like to watch a puppy or a kitten to see what traits or characteristics they display - see if they remind me of anything. I once named a St. Bernard, Teddy Bear. He was big and soft and loved to cuddle - like a big teddy bear. And he always lived up to his name.
I have a cat I named Ker-Plunk. From the very start, she wanted to be with me wherever I was. I thought that was going to change when I was taking a bath. It didn't. I was soaking in an herbal bath shortly after I brought her home and she wanted to sit on my lap. I certainly didn't think I had to worry about her joining me in my bath! Shows what I know! She jumped on the side of the tub and in aleap of faith - ker plunk!
She only did it once, but it was enough to dub her Ker-Plunk.
I had a puppy that was a destructive little thing. She tore up everything in the house - dragged away my shoes, pulled on my bed linens and would drag it all over the house, pulled everything out of the closet that had been on the floor in there and I had to hunt for just about everything. I named her C4 (an explosive) because she was trashing my house!
A week after I told everyone I had named her C4, she fell off my bed and hurt her leg. It changed everything. Although nothing was broken, she sprained one of her front legs pretty badly and she became much calmer - as if she finally realized she wasn't immortal. She was sweet, gentle, stopped trashing my house and just wanted to cuddle. I re-named her Sweet Pea. It stuck and she has been a real sweet pea ever since.

I have a 6 month old Black Lab, his name is Payton. I am from Chicago and I recently moved to Texas and I named him for the Chicago Bear Great Walter Payton. When I was a child growing up I had a schnoodle and her name was pebbles from the Flintstones.

We named our female German Shepherd Harley Davidson the first thing she did when we got her was to take a dump in our neighbors garage so we figured she leaked like a Harley. Our male we named Toad he was a rescue who had been shot and lost his front leg because he was breeding with somebodies dog so he hops like a Toad and was horny like one. The male wolf hybrid was named Loki after the Greek god of mischief. Our 2 cats are Double and Trouble that fits them figured any cats that wondered up and our 3 dogs actually like them they were gonna be trouble times 2.

My dad said i could get a coker spaniel but when we went to the breeders they didn't have any!
