5.Why does the “New Encyclopedia Britannica” say that the Hebrew and Greek word for soul really means animated beings both human and non human. So Animals are souls (Breathers). (Gen. 1:20, 21, 24, 25; Lev 24:17, 18)

“The Hebrew term for ‘soul’ (nefesh, that which breathes) was used by Moses . . . , signifying an ‘animated being’ and applicable equally to nonhuman beings. . . . New Testament usage of psyche (‘soul’) was comparable to nefesh.”—The New Encyclopædia Britannica (1976), Macropædia, Vol. 15, p. 152.

6.Why does the “New Catholic Encyclopedia” state that the word soul never means a soul as distinct from the body or the individual person.

“There is no dichotomy [division] of body and soul in the O[ld] T[estament]. The Israelite saw things concretely, in their totality, and thus he considered men as persons and not as composites. The term nepeš [ne´phesh], though translated by our word soul, never means soul as distinct from the body or the individual person. . . . The term [psy•khe´] is the N[ew] T[estament] word corresponding with nepeš. It can mean the principle of life, life itself, or the living being.”—New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. XIII, pp. 449, 450.

7.Please note “Immortality of the soul is a Greek notion formed in ancient mystery cults and elaborated by the philosopher Plato.” —Presbyterian Life, May 1, 1970, p. 35.

8.What was the original lie? (Gen 3:4) “You will not die.” if you disobey God.
The immortality of the soul concept says “You will not die if you disobey God.
Your immortal soul lives on someplace.”

So in reality the immortal soul idea is a teaching of Plato and not Jesus (#2a & 7)

The soul is the person, the individual being who breaths, thinks, eats and dies. (#1a & 2)

For a soul/person to live again God must resurrect that person (soul) to life again. (Acts 24:15)

The soul is an imaginary thing. Its existence cannot be proven logically or scientifically. People blindly believe in such stuff for no good reason. Many people fear the finality of death, so they are eager to hear childish tales about an afterlife. They cannot think about the logical consequences of that. The priests who invented afterlifes are not so bright, so they cannot concoct anything a thinking man would like. No life after death is really best. We are lucky it is the case.

The soul lives forever in one of two places, heaven or hell, some people believe that if you do enough good to out weigh the bad, that they will go to heaven. But that is not taught in scripture. What is taught is that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We can't do enough good to outweigh the bad because God's law demands perfection, and anything short of that will not do. God knew that we couldent keep the law, and he loves us, so he sent Jesus to keep it for us. Jesus honored the law by keeping it and by enduring its penalty(death). We honor the law by confessing that we are guilty according to the law. And when we stand before God to be judged he wont ask if we kept the law, or what church we went to, or how much good we did. He will ask what did you do about my Son who died for you? If you believe that Jesus died for you, then ask him to save you, He will and he will let you know it too. Ignor these people that dont know what they are talking about because psalm 14:1 and 53:1 both say the fool hath said in his heart there is no God. And 1 Corintians 18 says the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. There probably is no such thing as a soul. If there
is, after death it goes the same place a flame goes
when you blow out a candle - nowhere. It simply
ceases to exist.

For me, I believe in an afterlife. Some people don't, and it just goes out like a light. Some people have no soul like George Bush.
