Was there one person in general who just turned you onto wanting to be with the same sex or do you think you were born with gender issues?I am a heterosexual woman but I am curious, not trying to be mean.

I apologize for my bull in the china shop way of asking, it wasn't very tactful. But I could not think of any other way to put it. Perhaps instead of gender issues I should have said same sex leanings?

Actually, you were more accurate when you referred to gender. I knew that I was attracted to people of the same gender when I was seven years old and had the world's biggest crush on my best friend -- a lovely girl with long, dark hair and Afro-Asiatic eyes. She was captivating and it crushed my little heart when mutual moves resulted in lost correspondence. Ahh . . . to be so innocent again.

I wasn't born with "gender issues" and really, "same-sex leanings" sort of put the emphasis on sex, which would have been impossible at such a young age. I've preferred romantic relationships with people of the same gender for as long as I've sought romantic relationships; I've had crushes on girls for as long as I've known girls outside my family. If such could be treated as normally as feelings between people of different genders, the stigma could be lifted and more intelligent discourse surrounding the development of sexuality and gender identity could actually take place.

Well, perhaps someday . . .

A woman friend came onto me when I was drunk. It actually built up but it happened when I was drunk. We had a short relationship and it was a disaster so i put it down to an experiment as I was pretty messed up then.

My relationships with men were always disasters so I gave up on them too. Then a few years ago I started noticing that when I watched the steamy scenes in the movies I was always focused on the women. I sort of put it down to wishing I was the woman at first but then I stoppped kidding myself after a while. Accepted that she was turning me on and not him. Started exploring that side of me. Would tell you the rest of the story but I am not there yet.

you may have "gender issues" but I have no issues about my gender. I am a beautiful gay man.
I always looked up to myself as a gay person. even as a child i always wondered how one drop could create such a beautiful gay being. because I am beautiful most people think i am concieted which could not be further from the truth. I always say thank you when I am complimented even if they are not as beautiful as I am.
I dont have issues with my gayness and niether does anyone else I know but people seem to think I have issues anyway.
I wonder why?

Even in grade/high school I never felt anything but friendship for guys. Some guys were pushy and it was a big turn off. I tried dating, no success. When I moved on to college, I had a few sexual encounters with guys, trying to find out what was "wrong" with me. Never had an orgasm with any of them. Then I met a wonderful woman and it was magic! We are celebrating our 26th year together on October 9th and it's still wonderful! I am so lucky and so very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being attracted wasn't a "gender issue".
I simply knew what and whom I was attracted to, not making a conscious choice of gender. It happened that everyone that I was attracted to was male.
While you state that you weren't "being mean" you do show an amazing lack of tact with your wording.....

There where no sexual urges in me when I was born, no one taught me to have any sexual urges but when I was 13/14 I was in love with the boy next to me in class/ the man who drove the bus/a friend from Sunday School......................... need I go on.
Are you actually asking this because you are attracted to some one of the same sex for the first time?

well, I began suspecting that I am lesbian when I was 14/15, I wasn't fond of any of the boys, first I thought it was because I hadn't found the right guy, then I fell in love with my female classmate

and now I am in love with the most wonderful woman in the Universe and I'm happy like I've never been before

we are simply attracted to the same gender the way you're attracted to the opposite gender. but we are the ones who have "issues" about it.
