when they see a goth. why do they automatically assume that they are freaks? i'm a goth, i don't think i'm a freak.

have you ever asked yourself why you are a goth? were you born a goth? are your parents goth? goth is not mainstream, you are not an individualist when you are goth, you are part of a minority that is not well understood by the masses. When you form part of a group that is not well understood, you are considered a freak. period. Not necessarily goth. You are a freak if you
a. associate yourself with glbt groups.
b. associate yourself with a particular sexual fetish
etc. etc.
if you are not a freak, then you can also reason that no one else is, that freaks do not exist..

Well, really, no freak sees himself as a freak, he's just doing what comes naturally.
I don't see goths as freaks, more like people who identify with outsider culture, apart from the cookie cutter people. Too bad so much goth is getting cookie cutter.

If you're a goth - a *real* goth, not just some emo wannabe - then you've set yourself outside the bounds of the mundane.
Judgemental mundanes are not your concern.

A long time ago I decided that being a freak was good - it wasn't negative at all. What is better standing out and just blending in with everyone else? Being considered 'normal' is what's freaky.

goths are a subculture which by some is taken to the extreme. satan worshipping, excessive piercing. goths choose to look different to dress different and to act different. thats why society treats them different

I agree I hate labels!!!! I'm a prep, I admit it and all the goth people hate me because I'm a prep, be grateful you have friends (I know I'm grateful for my friends)

When you make yourself stand out from the rest of society, you look like a freak and people will react. Its simple psychology.

I think it is becasue you stand out. Also, it is a choice to look that way and others c an't handle it. It is seen as a form af rebelion to change in a drastic way. In my opinion, I don't care what and who a you are. That is your choice and I don't judge.
