Naw, that's just spam. Usually you get that stuff just for having a hotmail account. Don't worry.

For actual adult pay sites then no Unless he "accidental" signed up without realizing it. Check your bills to see if there have been any additional charges. But for free site
Like:
http://www.funnyinside.com/
http://www.adultfunsite.com/index.php
then it is possible. Some sites send there link to others e-mails randomly to get more visitors.
Sometimes if someone (like a friend) sends you a link to one of those sites and you open it up then the email address is saved to their site and they send you weekly newsletters and pic and stuff. Also when someone send you a pic or link from an adult site it gives you (most the time) an option to open without becoming a member or opening and becoming a member. But you have to actually read the print. If that is the case they have an subscribe button for that 2.

Hahahahaha.... I think you might be referring to a certain adult friend finding site? They were the bane of my life last year!!!
I had my email address used as a joke by a dear friend of mine who thought it would be incredibly funny to click "join for free" and enter my details! Ha... bloody Ha! - I got 100s of emails asking me to become a paying member etc etc... I eventually getting them to cancel it all but I still got emails from them... eventually I told them I was going to take them to court and suddenly the e-mails stopped coming!
And if anyone fancies using HIS details: James Painter, 16 Ever.... nahh im not that nasty!! I fogave him after a good few pints were bought for me! :o)
Oh so yeah in answer to your question... (I knew there was a point I was getting to!) - Unless he's subscribed to it at some point, I don't think they would get your email address - although email addresses do get "harvested" (you can get programs that search the internet and email servers for email addresses etc) illegally and sold for a lot of money and sometimes get sold again and again etc etc until eventually an "adult" site might have bought it... So that might have happened.
Also always be VERY careful to Tick (or sometimes UN-Tick) the box that says sometimes we will give you email address to a "carefully selected" partner company blah blah... that's just asking for trouble if you agree to that because it means that even though the partner co might be harmless, they are quite legally allowed to do anything they like with your email address, sell again, sell again, etc etc...
Basically the Internet is the devil and unless you are VERY careful giving your email address out then it will get abused at some point - I personally use a webmail (hotmail) address for all things like this(answers) or forums etc and ONLY ONLY use my personal email address for my FRIENDS

It is possible that his email address is stored in a SPAM server. Adult sites often advertise using SPAM.
They often start with the words
"Dear Member"
or
"Valued Customer"
or
"Valued Client"
Most of them originate in America. I have to delete hundreds of them a week from my Works mail server.
Although if his name or any other personal details are contained in the e-mail it would be unlikely that they are spam.
Might I suggest that he changed his e-mail address.

He is probally telling you the truth. Thoese adult sites buy and sell email addresses all the time. Also someone could have used his address by mistake, cut him some slack.

Most likely his e-mail address has been picked up by spammers.
It's also possible that someone signed up to the site using his e-mail address. Malice takes many forms.

He could have accidently clicked a link that subscribed him to the site. All he has to do is report it as spam and the emails should stop.

Its called spam, i get loads as as a female I do not appreciate them and send them all to the trash bin, unfortunately it only takes one to be opened and they lock onto you as a valid site and then send loads! Best not to open anything you dont recognise. If he keeps opening them then he has an issue he is not admitting to.

I'm afraid he is lying. There is a remote possibility that one of his mates signed him up for a laugh, but come on, what do you think? He may have signed out of boredom just to see what would happen, or he may be meeting people for sex. Hear him out before your final decision, but either way, I'm afraid he is lying.
