Assuming the lines are PVC.....Dig all around the line at the point of the leak. After you locate the leak you can cut out the section that is leaking. Go to Home Depot. Get a two couplings and enough PVC to replace the area you cut out. You will also have to buy primer and glue. Get the small cans. Glue one coupling to one end of the area you cut out. Glue the other coupling to the the piece you are using to replace the bad piece. Them glue that in place of the damaged area. If you go to a "Sprinkler Supply Outlet" they have repair "unions you can by. Much easier. Cut out the bad piece and connect the PVC with the "union".. Good Luck!!

I'm assuming you have a pvc system as that is the most common. If it is a small hole you can buy a repair sleeve, 2 half pieces that will glue around the pipe. Just clean it thoroughly before installing. If it is a complete break then you have to cut it out and intall a sliding coupler on to it. The people at the store can show you what you need. It is very simple. If you really aren't sure then just buy an unexpensive book on pvc repairs. It shows you picture by picture how to do it and what materials to use.

What kind of material is the line made from? If it's the flexible black plastic that comes in big roles, or the grey vinyl stuff, and you have the leak exposed, cut the line at the hole, insert a junction piece used to join two separate pieces end to end, clamp as needed, and rebury it.
