One mole is Avogardro's Number of anything -- atoms of Aluminum, molecules of water, bottlecaps, etc.

Avogadro's number is 6.023E23.

First, determine its chemical composition.
Then take the atomic mass of each atom.

1 mole is equivalent to the number you obtain in the calculations, in grams

example:
1 mole of water.
water is H2O.
H has an atomic mass of 1, and O has 16.

Since there are 2 H's and 1 O, we have 1 mole of water as 18 grams, from mass of H + mass of H + mass of O.

For gases at atmospheric pressure, 1 mole is exactly 22.5 liters. The kind of gas does not matter.

EDIT
dave_starks is also correct. Avogardro's number is 6.0221415 × 10 raised to 23, meaning there are that many particles in one mole. Getting the total mass of those partilces I already described. :)

Mole= sum of moleular weight of it formula,
1 mole of H2O = 2 + 16 = 18 g
no. of mloes = wight /molecular weight, 180 g of water = 10 moles
1 moles of a chemical contains an avogadro's number of molecules.

Look at the periodic table first. Do you see the atomic mass of each element? Notice that the mass is measured in a.m.u. This stands for 'atomic mass unit,' which is much smaller than a gram.

We measure in grams, though, and we're unable to see all those little particles interacting with each other. That's where the mole comes in. One mole of a substance is the number of atoms or molecules it will take for the atomic mass (in a.m.u., on a small scale) to equal the grams of the substance (on a large scale).

For example, if you have one sodium atom, its mass is 22.97 a.m.u. (a very small mass!). If you have 6.02 x 10^23 atoms of sodium (one mole), then all of those atoms together have a mass of 22.97 *grams*. This is why the mole is so helpful--because it helps change the unit from a.m.u. to grams.
