Most states have a motorcycle safety course in which you get your license upon completion of the course. The road test is waived because you are actually doing the road test during the course. The course I took began Friday evening with a classroom-type setting (films, etc.). On Saturday, everyone was furnished a 250 cc motorcycle to ride. Instructors demonstrated certain maneuvers and each of us would practice over and over until we could handle the bike comfortably. Sunday we did these moves and were graded; those who passed received their license. This safety course teaches you so much and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Four weeks after completing this course, I rode my bike to the Myrtle Beach Fall Rally which is 500 miles each way. The following year, I rode my bike from Kentucky to Key West (a 2700 mile round trip). To see pics go to our website -- we have over 16 pages.
Good luck -- see you in the wind!

Do you know where the test track is located, and what is required to successfully pass the test? If so, go check out the test track and get a feel for how it is set up. If you know what maneuvers you will be tested on, practice in an empty parking lot before you take the riding skills test.
Also keep your feet on the pegs. If you put your feet down they penalize you for it. And ,of course, don't drop the bike. If you drop the bike here in Michigan, the test is over.
Good Luck

If you are taking the test on your own try to use a bike no bigger than a 250cc. If you are in Il. that is the bike that seems to work the best on the sec. of state course. If at all possible take a motorcycle safety course. They are cheap (Il.only $20. to sign up) and worth the experience you will get. My wife took the class and she does just fine now. She had never been on a bike by herself before the class. After you get your lic. Just watch out for Cages.

Look at the test facility closely. You will be asked to make a u-turn at both ends. You can NOT take your feet off the pegs as you do.Make sure there is no sand or gravel on the test surface. In Illinois you test on what you ride.If you test on a 650 for example that is what the licence will limit you to.I took mine on an 1100 and the front tire slid on sand.I caught it,left my foot on the inside peg,but near didn't get passed 'cause I cussed the officer for laughing. He did sweep the track afterward.Noone in they'er right mind wants to make a sharp turn on sand or gravel!!

Depends on how your state does it. Usually your best off on a smaller bike. Easier to control.
Hubby has a Kaw 1600 and couldn't do it on that so he took it on my Honda 400 and passed it first try.
If it's an actual road test make sure to keep the speed down, use turn signals and pay very close attention to your placement.
Good luck with getting your knees in the wind legally.

Other drivers, and keep your eyes in your rear view. See, if someone behind you doesn't stop, and you are in a vehicle, you will probably survive. When you are on a bike, you are at everyone's mercy. You can die from a car only doing 30 mph. Always be hyper aware of what is going on around you at all times. Good luck.

The main thing they watch for is that you come to a complete stop at stop signs, and that you use your turn signals. This is what I was told when I asked the DOT here in TN before I took my test. Don't worry about it, just try to take your time. They won't fail you for taking your time.

The CBT is time-honored trainning even with the indisputable fact that it genuinely covers fundamentals in each little thing. Is it sufficient to get you on the line effectively, from my understand-the way it relies upon who you do it with. My different 1/2 of and that i both used distinct education colleges and both learnt distinct concerns. you'll study the basics like the right thanks to adventure, sluggish driving, on a daily basis tests that the motorcycle is in astounding operating order, what take care of equipment you decide on by making use of regulation and what you should actually have even with the reality that it truly is not a licensed requirement. there's slightly throughway code and idea in there even with the indisputable fact that you've gotten to also look up on it your self as well. you'll be able to study about your positioning on the line and stuff like that. It does coach you the basics to be out on the line yet I in my opinion ought to point booking some instructions with an instructor once you've gotten achieved your CBT via the indisputable fact that's going to furnish you with one to at least one education guide so that you'll be able to help on the bits that you merely did not get on the CBT. For the CBT you least confusing do 2 hours on the line which does no longer extremely supply all of it a danger to sink in thoroughly. also once you do some instructions it will guard your mum smooth. they are by making use of and tremendous about £25 an hour for a lesson on a 125cc geared motorcycle with motorcycle employ integrated, which i ought to point as risky as this sounds if some thing does bypass incorrect it must be now no longer your motorcycle and also you do not desire to worry about repairing the damage. the probabilities of passing a experiment with out your own motorcycle, at the same time as that's available are decreased for the undeniable reality that you wont be ready to coach out on your human being (which i imagine is at the same time as you study lots of the most as you've were given to think about and do for your self as against having someone communicate you by making use of technique of all of it). in case your mum desire you to bypass your vehicle making use of experiment first it does no longer truly save a lot on the motorcycle as at the same time as the guidelines of the line are the equivalent the guidelines of the line for driving a bike are a lot distinct to making use of a vehicle. desire it truly is helped slightly of. most suitable solid fortune, be honest and performance relaxing driving.
