I have noticed a few gay baiting questions on here and they always have lots of answers. Why do we give them the time? Lets just ignore them for a change. They only want to get a reaction that makes them feel good becuase they have upset you.

Well I answer them, because if I can educate on bigot, maybe more since it is on the internet, maybe they'll eventually get it through their skulls that there's nothing wrong with being GLBT, plus if some confused kid comes on and sees all that hate, I'd like for them to be able to find an understanding voice. Plus, free points.

bigots come in all shapes and sizes, as well as small brains. stuff them. if these people wish to have a go at all black, asian, ethnic, gay and lesbian people and say how they are evil, nasty and all that crap then let them i'd say. besides, no matter how hard and stupid they are by trying to intimidate us and make us feel inferior to them, they cannot get rid of us and never will frankly. if they want to be ignorant and thick-headed and uneducated, then that's their choice . they'll be the ones with egg on their faces at the end of the day. and yes answers is no place for people to rant and utter such homophobic, racist, sexist and anti- disabled moronic abuse. the sad reality is that they cannot accept the fact that we are all different and fail to understand that if everyone was white, hetrosexual, male, of the same age, etc this world would be a boring place to live. be proud of who you are i'd say and don't let some uneducated idiots tell you otherwise.

I appreciate what you are saying, but how are these people going to learn about us, if there is nobody there to humour them. I also enjoy taking the moral high ground whenever they post a provoking question, and stunning them with a clever response. instead of backing away from them we should be united in making them aware of us. as i have no intention of being pushed back into the closet...

We try to enlighten them. Most of the time it doesn't work, but we shouldn't stop trying.

Look at how far society has come in the last 50 years. People are becoming much more educated with gay issues. It shouldn't stop.

The reason you bother to answer is because in some way they have hit a nerve that you feel needs to be justified. And yes, ignoring the baited questions is the best way to handle it. There will always be small minded people who will have nothing better to do than hurl insults at what they either do not understand or fear. I am a married woman (heterosexual) but I think what you do in your own bedroom is your business and it will ultimately be between you and God. No one knows God's mind , so we can scarcely say he will condemn or accept your lifestyle. But it is just that. Your lifestyle. Nobody else's business....end of statement.

I bother to answer them so that they begin to understand that not everyone agrees with them.
I answer because I am not gay and I still don't agree.
Some people post questions here just so they can say something hateful and ridiculous with out being challenged personally. "questions" that are religious statements or hatemongers, and republican'ts blabbering about the lies they believe
so I leave quick messages for them to show them, hey you are entitled to your wrong opinion but you do not have consensus

Great point! I see "reaction" posts here from time to time. There was one from a poster I saw yesterday who used statistics as a rationalization for his racism. He wouldn't listen to anyone - just kept insisting that he was "right" and everyone who didn't agree with him was full of crap. He even ended up telling me he felt sorry for ME because I'm not a racist!

I agree with you - some people that visit here are just looking to upset people and/or get a reaction from them. We're just wasting our time when we answer them.

Thanks for the reminder.

We (and it seems the Dating group AND the Religion group) seem to answer a LOT of questions. We like to speak our minds, and we're very strong in voicing our opinion..especially since we can - without fear compared to say 20 years ago when we wouldn't be as courageous to speak our minds against homophobia.

We are better at communicating. ;)

You only noticed a few?:-)

Answers are usually to point out bigotry, hypocrisy, untruths and stupidity. We should remember that there are possibly a lot more people reading a Q&A than there are activiely participating.

That's my excuse anyway.:-)

If I do reply to them I don't get all worked up about it, I just give 'em a good ol' fashioned sarcastic comment, take my two points and am on my way. Tra-la-la.
