YES! There are turtle races every weekend at Big Joe's Bar on Foster near Ravenswood in Chicago. You get a ticket with each drink you purchase from 9pm until midnight. There are races every 20 minutes. They have a pingpong table that's painted white. There is big green circle painted on it that just touches each side (imagine the largest circle that will fit inside a square). Nine entrants are picked from all the tickets from drink sales. Each entrant gets a Turtle 1-9. The nine turtles are placed inside one of those clear plastic tops like the ones at diners that cover cakes and danishes. They place the cover at the center of the table and then lift it. The turtles race to the edge of the table. There is a lip so they don't fall off. The turtle who crosses the line first gets the winner a drink. The turtle who crosses the line last gets the loser a drink. The bar has a winners' race at midnight. The nine winners get assigned a turtle and they have one more race. The winner and loser of that race get another free drink. The winner and is winner of the night and they take teh winner's name. They have another race every nine weeks for the previous nine week's winners and they give away a flight for two to Vegas. Big Joe's Bar in Chi-Town!

No, we only had one turtle when I was growing up. We found the thing in the yard when it was about the size of a silver dollar and it just kept growing and growing. We kept the tortoise in a plastic tank out on the patio so it could get some sun, and everytime we cleaned its tank, it would take a gigantic sh!t. The water would get all cloudy and really start to stink like rotten fishy pond scum after a couple days. We nicknamed our pet Turdy Turtle. My brother would try to gross me out and talk about boiling the turtle water and making soup. Finally, Turdy grew too big for his tank and crawled away one day. The end.

I only own a turtle tattoo. I suppose if I met someone else with a turtle tattoo we could have a race.

No, can't say that I have.
Also, I've never been to one.
Perhaps someday, I will.
