Calgon water softener. Mr. Lee at the cleaners' explains to a customer that the clothes get so clean because of "ancient Chinese secret." But then his wife calls to the back "we need more Calgon!" and the customer says "Ancient Chinese secret, hmm?"

It was Calgon. The female consumer was trying to figure out how the commercial laundry was able to whiten and brighten her clothes when she couldn't do it at home. The Asian clerk would smile and say "Ancient Chinese Secret" when in fact she was using Calgon. The commercial was designed to make you believe that using Calgon was a secret way to do your laundry at home with the same results that a commercial laundry gets. (In my opinion it wasn't very flattering for the Asian community).

I think it was for a water softening product. Softer water gets your clothes cleaner. When asked how they get so clean , the man says 'ancient chinese secret'
