I would recommend it for Islamorada. The drive is beautiful and you will get to go through many scenic fishing/relaxation areas like no other. Key west is a bit overhyped, but if you have never seen it, it is worth the trip.

I personally think that the drive over the 7 mile bridge is worth the trip to key west alone.

Yes, I would recommend going to Florida Keys. We went there 4 years ago. We loved Key West - there about 3 nights. We also visited Naples, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Key West was my favourite though. Don't go in hurricane season!

Yes, much slower way of life. I'd miss Key West, but most of the other Keys are worth stopping at. We found a roadside shack that did fabulous seafood at ridiculous prices.

If you are interested in swimming with dolphins I think there are two options.

PS - you must read some of Karl Hiassen's books before visiting Florida!

we went to the keys for our honeymoon. We stayed in Miami for three days and then drove to Key West for 2 days.
The drive was great although it took about 4 hours. (tip - don't attempt to drive down to the keys on a weekend as everyone else does too)
We stayed in the Southermost Hotel in Key West which was lovely. The place itself was fantastic, we really loved it. Really laid back and just what you'd expect it to be like, quite Caribbean like. We have been to Sanibel Island a couple of years before and it's quite similar to that if you've been.
We wish we'd booked for longer as we were just getting into the atmosphere and we had to leave. Miami was a complete let down and we should have gone to the keys for longer. Wish we'd have had more time to visit more islands and do the dophin swimming.
Highly reccommend it!

Key West itself, sadly is nothing more than a cruise ship, stop over. Full of waddling seniors, taken bus, shuttle tours. Streets are narrow as it is. Head to Marathon, or any area before the Key.

It matters on how old are you and are you bringing chilldren. The keys are great to relax but on duval street it is pary time. If you are with kids i suggest you stay away from duval street.

It all depends on what you want to do and why?

Sure I would go if I wanted to hang out in bars, strip clubs and the beach.
