The Rocky Mountains in the western U.S. are a younger range and have not been eroded very much . The Smoky Mountains in the eastern U.S. are a much older range and show the effects of erosion much more . The Smokies are more rounded and tree covered .

The Sierras and the Cascades. Sierras were lifted up by earthquakes, the Cascades have a lot of big volcanos.
