Kurt Cobain died from a lack of Oxygen to his brain after an incident with a gun.

He has never been replaced as the front man of Nirvana as he was the specific songwriter and a vital component of that specific band.

He died of an overdose. Its documented on MTV quite a lot. In there style of music he became a bit of a God maybe the band felt her was irreplaceable kind of wrong to replace somebody who meant so much to the fans as well as the band members. Never to be the same without him Look at what happened with INXS they had a TV show to find a guy who took Michael Hutchence place in INXS (After his death) Maybe they were not the largest most popular band but he was not a talent to be replaced. Sometimes it is the singer who makes the band. I imagine U2 with out Bono or the Stones without Mick Jagger.

I don't know the ultimate cause of his death, but as far as the split goes, no he could not have been easily replaced. Cobain wrote the majority of the songs and the music to them.

Lets see, Kurt made the band, even the remainder band mates admit that Kurt is responsible for their great success. Also, after loosing someone you love it is difficult to remain in a band together, and especially difficult to find a new lead guitarist and singer. As for his death, no one really knows with 100% accuracy. It was either suicide or murder. It remains unresolved.

He committed suicide with a shotgun, as for the second part of your question who do you suggest could replace him? It is like Oasis without Noel Gallagher or the Beatles without John Lennon or Paul McCartney! They are the force behind the band!

Kurt killed himself. And he wrote all the songs and sang every thing so you can't really replace him. That's like saying why don't they replace Bob Dylan?
