I cant recommend enough how funny JOHN O'FARRELL books are. THE BEST A MAN CAN GET, THIS IS YOUR LIFE, or most recently MAY CONTAIN NUTS are all superb. I think you should go for 'may contain nuts' as its written from the perspective of a woman and seeing as you are one im sure you'll enjoy it. I have loads of good books to recommend if you want any other tips.

If you haven't read it: Bridget Jones' Diary, by Helen Fielding. She also wrote "Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination", which I found very funny.
Janet Evanovich is also funny, and her books are super fast reads.
I also recommend Douglas Adams' "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". It's laugh-out-loud funny!

Any thing by Douglas Adams: "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy," "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe," "Life, the Universe, and Everything," "So Long and Thanks for all the Fish," or "Mostly Harmless," and "The Salmon of Doubt" to name a few. Adams was the funniest man to ever put pen to paper.

I recently went into Ottakers and asked for funny books and no one could recommend one. Eventually i picked one up by Sandy Toksvig, which is supposed to be funny but i have only just started it. Maybe look on Amazon under comedy and read some of the reviews.

Hit the Road by Caroline B. Cooney is a great funny book. Another often humorous book is Rash by Pete Hautman.

Candid by Voltaire. It is really funny. It is about a man that has a naive outlook on the world. Then a lot of things happen to him as he travels the world. And he becomes wiser. The things that happen to him are hilarious. Candid is a short novel.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels are the funniest. I think The Light Fantastic was the first one.
