If I have to choose one then I choose the harp, The harp was the precursor to the piano and I love the piano.
I know in reality not many people play the harp anymore. This is a great loss in my view. There is no sound quite like it. In dong fong fang fu the harp could be seen as either metal, or wind in qi gong because there is no hammer like in the piano, according to the secrets of the yellow emporer, the oldest book of medicine known to history, predating hypocrates. The vibrations are a healing energy as the sound continues to effect the body even after you can't physically hear it anymore.
I also love angels and the harp and the horn are the two instruments of angelic healing. I played the harp when I was younger but due to not having access I was noit able to continue. Even if you guys vote for a different answer I hope you will consider the harp in your choices. At least listen to a harp when you have the chance and I bet you will love it.
God Bless

Bosendorfer piano; For home I would love to have at least a 225(92 keys), unless I could have the space for an Imperial Grand(290-97 keys). The better Bosendorfers have keys other pianos do not, at the lower end of the base scale. The additional keys, although used in very few classical pieces, provide harmonics that give those Bosendorfers a richer sound. I would like the case in black, because many of the fashionable designs emphasize the fashion, rather than the instrument, which in itself is a work of art.
Bosendorfer has absolutely the best sound of any piano ever produced. The key action is also very precise. Bosendorfer perfected the piano, and it was able to meet the demands of Franz Liszt, who was very demanding of his instruments.
I had the opportunity to play one at a sales shop in Silver Spring MD. A Steinway is a crude instrument compared to the Bosendorfer. Even the Imperial Grand has a better tone than a Steinway for a concert hall environment.
Unfortunately, it is also twice as expensive as a Steinway. Therefore, I need to win a significant lottery jackpot to afford both the instrument and the proper house in Snowmass Village CO to locate it.
I am not an accomplished pianist, but that one instrument would give me so much pleasure in the sound and the tactile sense, I would return to the lessons of my youth. Additionally, many accomplished musicians would gladly provide dinner music for me simply to use the instrument. It is that good.

I'm a guitarist so...
Along with the piano it's the one of the instrument that you can play the melody and accompaniment at the same time. Other instruments like brass, woodwinds and bowed instruments are only capable of playing single notes, so you need at least two other players to play a chord.

Clarinet. It's the one I can play.
To listen to, I like a full orchestra playing a tune like the theme from Star Trek Deep Space Nine or the title theme from the game Morrowind: something that suggests a greatness in destiny. But that's more the music than the instrument.

Most instruments allow you to play only one note at at time and sound best being accompanied by something else, so I would have to say piano or organ.

in my opinion the violin is the acceptable musical device. It has one of those tremendous decision of sound that emulates an opera singer, both baritone and soparno. it must be used in song kinds from classical to united states.

Sax, I think it produces beautiful, sexy, calming music. I love eating dinner with dim lights and nice jazz music in the backround.
