Could be swelling or infection especially if her bm had any blood or off-whitish clumps in it. Cycles of diarrhea and constipation are symptomatic of IBS. Either way, I agree with everyone else, make an appointment for tomorrow.

What do you mean they blew her bowel up? Did she have some kind of procedure? I would be more specific in yout question to get the best responses

You would be best taking her back too the doctors or ring the hospital for some advise.

If she is home I would call the hospital and ask someone. If she is in the hospital, they probably know but you could ask anyway just to get the answer.

hmmmmm, the hospital would definately have given you a leaflet on this as it is major surgery. it would have shown her the after care etc...i find it incredulous if they havent given her anything in writing.
perhaps ring the ward or nhs direct.
