As above you need to use a machine.

The do it in our branch of Toys R Us. If it doesn't work it's free.

I had an 8 year old student a couple of years ago who said he fixed his sister's CD with toothpaste. Try that. I'm assuming it works by filling in the gap. The same concept can be applied to scratched glass or plastic by using a white china marker.

most places that sell dvd's sell dvd repair kits. i just had this problem and posted a ? about it not long ago. the kits are less than $10. they come with soft wipes that buff out surface scratches. and some liquid/cream that, combined with a rotary device, can fill in and fix deeper scratches. i bought one from 3m scotch at compusa and it worked great.

There are inexpensive kits but they a re only 50% successful. Sometimes a simple scratch ruins the dvd/cd.

you might check wth a game store. sometimes they have access to a machine or a way to get it done for you.

The machine replaces the plastic cover that the scratches are in.

other then that you could try scratch remover but i've had only 50% success with taht.

the other way usualy costs 3 dollars a cd.

Yes, I used to get my sons playstation games fixed at the local video shop - about £3.50. They just recoat the disc in a machine and they are as good as new. You can buy the machines (£30) but I had alot of trouble finding one. The best thing would be to ask your local video shop (independent) as they will probably know of a service near you.

1st, you should NEVER clean your DVD's/games with rubbing alcohol.
Soap and warm water will clean oils and dirt better than alcohol. Alcohol will, in the end, destroy your DVD/games.

Walmart, Target, Toy's-R-Us and ANY game store have a
"buffer" machine that you can purchase for about 29.00.

If you are a "friend" of your local gaming store ask them to buff it out for you. They do it when receiving trade in games/DVD's.

I don't think so. I clean the kid's DVDs with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth to get rid of the fingerprints and grease, but haven't had to deal with a scratch yet.
