Urea has two nitrogens for each carbon; it's role is to help the body get rid of nitrogens in a form that's not too toxic, so having it carry a lot of nitrogen is good. It's also good that urea is not an acid or base, because ammonia is very basic and toxic and so urea as an excretion product is much less dangerous.
