How to restore the luster to a marble table top?

I have a beautiful cocktail table with a marble finish, which has endured a few years with two young boys, and has lost its shine and luster. I've tried some over-the-counter products to clean it, but nothing seems to restore the shine. Is there anything I can buy that will accomplish this or is the only option to have it professionally done?

2000 grit polishing sand paper and lots of elbow grease.

have it sandblasted and refinish it.
