Srry I Miss Spell equator...

That question is very bogus. It assumes "north" is above. To an Aussie, "South" is above. Both poles are ABOVE according to the perspective of the person living to a particular side of the equator.

Why is it called the equator? Because each half of the Earth's surface to either side of it is EQUAL.

OK this is silly but it helps me remember it. The latitude lines go around the planet. Latitude, fatitude. longitude goes the other way.

look I warned ya. it's silly but it works the lines of latitude start at o the equator then go up degrees north or south as you move away from the equator.

North. Think of 'lattitude' as a 'ladder'. The higher the lattitude, the further north you are!
