I have a bee hive forming in my back yard in a tree, how do I get rid of them?

Go to your local town hall and ask what services would be available for that.
Contact, and I'm not joking, your local veterinarian - they know about programs for relocating bee-hives, and rescueing stranded animals, etc. I think the ASPCA is one of them.

DO NOT SPRAY IT WITH AN AEROSOL CAN AND KNOCK IT DOWN - that person doesn't know what they're talking about. The poison might not go inside, and even if it does, it won't go all the way in, a few of the bees WILL come out, and they'll be really pissed off when they do.

I had this problem, there is an easy and a hard way. easy: check in the yellow pages and look for a local bee keeper and depending on what type of bee's they are they will prolly come get them for FREE, hell our wanted to pay us cause we had an 8 foot nest on the side of our house, they get the bees and honey. If that fails. you need to destroy the nest, knock it to the ground by shooting it with a paintball gun until it falls but stand far away. either spray it with water until they die or fly away. or if you can manage to light it on fire with some gas that is a fast way. also if it involves city property, call your city and they have to dispose of it

Ive seen this question a lot and when I went to web sites about it professionals would always answer with call a beekeeper they won't charge you because they want the hive

I do not like to kill bees because they are important in our total ecological cycle.. It might be prudent to call in an exterminator who can drive the bees away.. then the nest can safely be removed.
