Stephanie YOU are the jackass..Yes I think they want the freedom of kids not joining the milatary at 13 yrs of age, as well as the freedom of NOT BEING TOURTURED AND KILLED by the goverment when someone speaks out against them, and I would think WOMEN would LOVE the freedom of not being tourted, raped and killed when a husband ACCUSES one of adultery

First, we never had any business there in the first place. Iraq started off as a vendetta by Bush to get rid of Saddam Hussein because he (Hussein) put out a contract on Daddy at the time of the Gulf War. Dubya even told his intimates the first day in office, he was going to get rid of Hussein. He used 9/11 as an excuse.
Second, not all countries are suited for American style democracy and government. This is a country that for centuries has been ruled over by various warlords, kings, and dictators. There are too many competing factions for democracy to work. They aren't ready for it. Most Iraqis will tell you they were better off under Saddam Hussein - at least they had jobs and there weren't bombs going off in the streets killing people every day. Now what do they have thanks to Bush's democracy? A civil war, no jobs (except for those who are engaged in war profiteering) and bombs going off constantly killing more people than who died under Hussein. This country will eventually fall once again under the control of a dictator and/or king and peace will be restored. Until that time, chaos will reign and innocent American troops and Iraqis will continue to die to satisfy George Bush's vanity.
You cannot force a system of government upon a country that either doesn't want it or which isn't ready for it, yet that's what Bush is trying to do. As simple-minded as he is, he should be able to see by now, it's not going to work. Time to bring the troops home before more die and let the Iraqi people work it out among themselves. We can't be the world's police force.

I think the people of Iraq should vote on what they want in the way of freedoms because they have different values and culture. I think they should also vote on whether the US should leave or stay another year. If they want us to stay, I think we owe it to them being that we caused all this chaos by entering their country and turning everything upside down.

I think everyone deserves freedom but not at the expense of middle-class Americans - both lives & dollars! Our country is going to hell in a hand-basket but both democrats & republicans think they know what's best for every other country in the world??? Give me a break!

quote
" Do you think the 25 million people living in Iraq deserve similar freedoms to the ones we enjoy? "
Only if that is what they want,,, so far it looks like maybe they would prefer to be subservient to one religious sect or another, and they can't decide which one.

I think they deserve electricity 24 hours a day, gas as cheap as it was when saddam was in power, and running water 24 hours a day.We are the greatest nation in the world, yet we cant accomplish that?
Newsflash jackass maybe they dont want our freedoms.Have you ever thought of that? Have you thought maybe they dont want to be like the US? Shocking I know what with our teenage girls looking like sluts all the time, how stupid our kids are in the public schools, our divorce rate, our VD rate, its amazing they dont want to be just like us. Just because its right for us doesnt mean its right for them.
