what do you mean when it reaches the atmosphere?

If I am understanding your question correctly then water after being evaporated rises into theatmosphere to be condensed into clouds and rain back down eventually.

And in case you were wondering water does not leave the atmosphere/planet because of earths gravity.

It turns into ice crystals and falls back to earth in the form of rain ,snow and hail .
