what is a gage in a care

i was driving my van and the gage light turned on . does that mean my car has trouble

Do you have a mechanic book for your vehicle? I had a mini van, and when the gauge light came on, after I got home, my husband would take the key, turn it to allmost on, then off, then he did that a few times, and the last time he would do it he new the code to look up in the mechanical book. then he knew the problem. I can't help you with it, cause I am pure woman, when I hear a sound in my car, I turn up the music and tell him about it later...lol.

this light is set to come on if it gets low on gas to,when it comes on,and says check gages,it could be the tank getting low,,either one of the gages will set it off,i own a repair shop,,and any thing that gets low or doesn't do right will set it off,the gages are the on the instruments on the speedometer area,,check your oil and coolant Level also and make sure there OK on it,,good luck i hope this help,s.

Which gage? Sometimes the lights go on when they are not working properly. Not necessarily that something is wrong.
