Some closing theme songs are good but ultimately you have to cut the music. I suggest doing it mid song. That way, they won't think it's at the end of a song, change of CD, etc. That always worked for me.
Get in the habit of playing the same songs before close. That way the people will get in the habit of wrapping it up.

I'd just shut the music off... if you're still playing it they may think you're still open LOL!!! Either that or pick the same song for every night and that way they will know when they hear it you will be closing in 15 minutes or whatever lol

No, don't shut down the music just yet. Put some personality into it (your personality), man! Play something that's downbeat, but something that won't annoy people too much. Maybe some world music; like Cuban, Brazilian, reggae or dub. Make it your signature.
