Slap the f*ck out of him! Just kiddin' just tell him that you don't like it and you don't... well... you aren't desperate.

Yes, it's rude because it's the thought that counts - not the gift itself. See if you can take it back without a receipt, many stores will allow exchanges without a receipt if not outright refunds. If you can't do that, then give it to someone else for their birthday.

Hell yes its rude! He didnt have to get you anything. The best way to handle a situation like that is to graciously accept the gift and return it yourself. You dont ask the person to return it for you they already took time of there own to get it for you.

Yes that is quite rude, it probably would hurt your friends feelings...next time you get presents request that they leave gift receipts in case it's not right for you. I wouldn't ask them to return it right now...try this method it will work out fine.

What I would do is, accept it gracefully then put it away somewhere and forget about it. It is not worth risking a friendship over something quite trivial.

So it is a joke! Then treat it as such and learn to laugh!

Yes, it is rude. If you don't like it, return it yourself and get the money. If you can't return it, regift it to someone else later on.
