My boss yelled at me last night for pretty much no reason. He said he was sorry later, but I still feel bad and want to cry. Am I the only one who takes things like this so seriously?

I work in a German restaurant. It is a very old building...Lots of scary old rooms. I was looking for something and I went in a room that I wasn't supposed to be in. I had NO IDEA. He yelled at me, but then came back and said he was sorry. I still just feel really stupid.

No. I feel HORRIBLE if my boss acts displeased in some way. I lose sleep over it and everything. Thank goodness my boss is typically very reasonable.

Ok this is easy cause i have been a boss and no matter where you go in life some is going to yell at you because they are angry for some reason. It might not even be your fault. The way to deal with this is easy. If it was your fault that he is yelling at you say i am sorry and i will not do that again. I am learning as i go and i will make mistakes. If it is not your fault then just listen and move on. Say bad stuff under your breath and when you get home cry.

I got 'yelled' at for making a mistake and work and did cry. Not in front of my boss though and he didn't really yell....for me it was the fact that I made a mistake and he had to bring it to my attention. It makes you feel terrible nad like you want to quit, etc. but it goes away.
My situatin is different because I deserved to get confronted...it sounds like your situation is one where your boss might have been having a bad night and you got the brunt of it. Although it's unprofessional for him to have yelled at you for something so small....it does say alot that he apologized to you. He must've realized he acted irrationally and did the right thing and apologized. You're lucky...not many bosses would do that. I would say forget about it and don't go into that room anymore.

Of course not. Most of us are not thick skinned enough to not feel badly when yelled at by a boss. I am glad to hear he apologized and I hope he did not do it in public. Hopefully he was venting or had a bad day. Since he is your boss and you will need to keep working with him if you plan to keep your job I urge you to forget it and put it behind you. If it keeps happening you might think about going to HR or his boss or getting a transfer or changing jobs. Very few of us get paid enough to put up with abuse, verbal or otherwise.

A job is just a job! If my manager or any other manager EVER
yelled at me I would yell back as They are NOT my husband, father, etc, I am a grown up woman not a dog, or their wife, etc. I demand respect at all times! You never yell at me and I will never yell back! I too take my job seriously and I often get offended but not to the point where I will cry over it, It is just that only a job, you must demand respect at all times or they will walk all over you, and yell at you, and take advantage of you!

Nobody likes to be yelled at by anybody!!! Forgive your boss; he did apologize!!!! You need to walk on egg shells around some bosses, because they are stressed all the time and are like a time bomb waiting to go off on someone!!!!! If he does it again and you feel he was in the wrong...go over his head and let his boss know what a jerk he is to work for!!

Sort of, I can understand why you are troubled by it. I would ask your boss why he yelled and then decide how you feel about it after.
