Take her temperature twice a day (not after a bath). This is a guideline. CHeck that she is not allergic to something in her environment. If she congested all the time, certain times or places, after events?
If you are worried, have the doctor take another listen. Otherwise, try some "patting" of her chest to loosen it so she can cough it out. Request the nurse to show you the sequence of pats (like the kind they do for cystic fibrosis) so you can help her clear her chest.
Check the air quality in her room, is it too dry, too humid?
Use an air filter, and install a thermometer, barometer, humidity sensor, these are cheap. Try to keep the air at 25-40% humidity, not too high and not too low. Humidity can be increaed with a fishtank or plants in the room.
And most importantly, do not allow ANYBODY to smoke in the house...nowhere! (Stay away from room sprays and other such chemicals...very nasty for baby lungs!)

I have an almost 7 month old and three other older children, so yes four children all together ranging in age of 14 to 7 months. I don't know if you decided to breast feed but usual that helps a baby fight many infections and builds the immune system. When my youngest was a new born he also sounded wheezy. What I used/use for my son is a humidifier because he sounded the like he was squeaking and raspy.... Also you might want to make sure if you are bottle feeding to make sure he is in an up right position at all times of feeding. Make sure that no one is smoking around the new born and dust when the baby is not in the room and try to keep things clean around him/her. Wash your hands before and after doing anything with the child. To keep the germs away and make sure any one else whom holds the baby to do the same. With having a new baby I know it seems like so much to do and not enough time to do it all in, however if you get in the habit of doing things a certain way every day it is easier to keep things healthy for you and your baby. If some of these home remidies don't work after a few days then the pediatrician should be visited. And don't worry the first child I had, I took him to the doctors all the time. Even though I read all the helpful parenting books...

Call his doctor. Since he is over 3 mos he's fine getting up to 103 before danger. No need for ER til 103. Brain damage can be caused at 104 and that high can cause seizures. I have a friend whose son had a fever caused seizure at 104. I doubt the fever is for teething he's not quite old enough to be teething. He could be but it's not common. Why are you still doing rectal temps? Get an ear thermometer. That's what most doctors and hospitals are using now. Out of 3 kids none of them have ever had rectal temps done.

Always call the Ped's office. You may just ask for the nurse she might be able to give you advice. For the time being use a bulb syringe and "Little Noses" and suck out the mucous. Another thing might be to use a vaporizer, just don't let it run all night. If you don't have one, turn hot water on in the shower and close the door. After it steams up you and your baby sit down somewhere in the bathroom. The steam for them shower should help. Be careful when turning off the hot water. Hope your little one feels better.

First call the baby's pediatrician. I am a mother of two and both my daughter's had the same issue! Doc says it's just something that happens to a lot of babies. When they come out of our womb they have build up mucus in their systems. It take time before it goes away completely. you could buy some Johnson's vapor bath to help expel it. Also being in the bathroom with the steam helps! Don't worry it's probably nothing! take care. Congratulation's your on your way to being a great mom!!

Bring the baby to see the pediatrician. It wouldn't be over-reacting. Doctors would rather you bring the baby in to get looked at and have it be nothing than to not bring your baby in and have it turn out to be something.
When infants get a cold they can get them just as you describe, but you can't just assume its a "harmless" cold and ignore it in a baby that young.
Don't fool around with any "breathing sounds" or sounds that seem to come from her chest.

I would contact your doctor in the morning just to make sure everything is alright! I KNOW EVERYTHING WITH A NEW BABY IS SCARY BUT TRY TO RELAX A LITTLE! I KNOW IT IS HARD TO DO WELL I HAD TROUBLE DOING IT WHEN MY SON WAS LITTLE. HERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT WILL HELP YOUR BABY FEEL BETTER , TURN THE SHOWER ON WITH HOT WATER AND YOU AND THE BABY SIT IN THE BATHROOM . THE STEAM WILL HELP HER BREATH I USE TO BUY JOHNSON AND JOHNSON VAPOR BATH WHEN MY SON WAS LITTLE AND IT HELPED A LOT. I BUY MY SON THOSE VICK VAPOR PULLIN AND I PLUG IT IN FOR A WHILE AND THEN I UNPLUG IT AND IT SEEMS TO HELP TOO. CONGRATS ON THE NEW BABY! YOU WILL DO FINE! GOOD LUCK!
