Why do people have a problem with taking their children to the doctor?

I know a lady that her daughter hasn't been to a doctor in 6 years and her son in 3 years. She says her children haven't been sick.
Her son is sick right now, but I know she want take him until he is really bad sick.What is wrong with people?

She may not have any health insurance . If she doesn't, a first time visit to a Doctor .. not including blood tests .. which alone can cost 100's of dollars .. just the visit to the office can be over a hundred dollars. If she DOES have health insurance, then she doesn't believe in Doctors .. which is too bad for her kids. Good Luck ! :)

Perhaps she doesn't have health insurance coverage and cannot afford the medical bills. Also, everyone has a different idea of what circumstances require a doctor's visit and which don't. I was raised that you don't go to the doctor for a run-of-the-mill illness like a cold or the flu (unless dehydration is an issue, strep throat is a concern, etc.) because there isn't much a doctor can do anyway.

I haven't been to the Dr in years. I don't go unless I have no choice and even then I don't like to go.

I don't take my son to the Dr either. Unless he is really sick. There is no use going for a cold or the sniffles. He only goes if there is something that won't get better on it's own.

The doctors have better things to do than deal with a bunch of snotty noses that they can't help anyways.

SHE has had a fear of the doctor's since her childhood, and is afraid that her children will have to go through the same fear.
