Well. In general, I think Liberals.

1) you will NEVER find a liberal who disagrees with science and reason.
ie that the earth is less than 10,000 years old.

2) most intellectuals are more liberal than conservative... like professors, scientists, etc.

and from my own personal experience, those who lean more liberal are smarter in general.

(look at okieboy's spelling & the the above response to get a nice little sampling for your answer)

...and to tofujesus below, Although there are fools that lean both ways, it is true that those who neoconservatives or who are often accused of being "liberal" are more open-minded and smarter... Even if they really aren't 'liberal' like they are accused of being, so the question is kind of faulted.
But yes, there are very smart people who are conservative. I like what ben stein has to say and tucker carlson. they are very practical, and I lean conservative on some issues by the way.

Studies consistently show that liberals are smarter than conservatives.

Fox News (and the Bible) are largely to blame for this.

Someone proclaimed that conservatives are "problem solvers". A true conservative would know this is false! Conservatives don't solve problems- it's against the very core of their philosophy. Only *markets* solve problems in conservative philosophy.

When markets fail, as they have time and time again, liberals step-up and offer solutions that will keep society functioning. Liberals saved us from the Great Depression after the most colossal market failure of all time. Conservatives still fail to accept there is no market solution to a depression. If prices are falling, people will not spend their money because, duh, they are waiting for lower prices if not out of work! By waiting and not spending, prices fall further and the process repeats. For this reason, The Great Depression was the end of conservative, laissez-faire capitalism.

Wow. I would agree that there is ignorance in both parties. perhaps a better question would be "who is more blind and deaf?"
Ive never met a conservative who was actually willing to see past his own nose and hear more than what his masters tell him.

Liberals because they can think for themselves unlike the cons who have to be told what to think.

Wise men don't make sweeping generalizations. Anyone who did in response to this question is NOT smart.

Liberal/Conservative has nothing to do with intelligence. There are smart and dumb people in both parties.

conservatives tend to be more problem solving & thoughtful

liberals tend toward being reactionary and panic-stricken

conservatives tend to work things out...

liberals tend just to get all worked up...

History bear this out...time & again

One's level of intelligence is not governed by their political views, what a childish question.
