The United States. That doesn't negate the fact that we have also perpetrated massively negative influence as well, but look at the good we have done:
Our Constitution is the model for written constitutions around the world.
The Bill of Rights
Fighting for the Allies in both WWI and WWII
Provided refuge for scientists like Einstein and Fermi during the war
The Marshall Plan, in which we rebuilt Europe
The formation of the United Nations
We have given the world enormous technological and medical advances, such as the lightbulb, manned flight, the polio vaccine, and computers.
American laws, support, and entrepreneurship encourage research, yielding the highest number of Nobel laureates - 160
Our people come from every other country on the planet, giving us strength in diversity.
No other country on earth is referred to consistently as "The Land of Opportunity." That's not to say everyone will thrive, but your chances here are far better than in other places. People around the world aspire to something called "The American Dream." You'll never hear any other country's name plugged into that phrase. "The English Dream?" I don't think so. How about "The Chinese Dream?"
Our motives are not always altruistic, but our ideals are lofty. Maybe someday we'll return to them.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Modern Times began in the end of the 18th century, continuing to the present...
The concept of the modern world as distinct from an ancient world rests on a sense that the modern world is not just another era in history, but rather the result of a new type of change. This is usually conceived of as progress driven by deliberate human efforts to better their situation.
Advances in all areas of human activity -- politics, industry, society, economics, commerce, transport, communication, mechanization, automation, science, medicine, technology and culture -- appear to have transformed an “Old World” into the “Modern” or New World. In each case, the identification of a Revolutionary change can be used to demarcate the old and old-fashioned from the modern.
Much of the Modern world replaced the Biblically-oriented value system, the monarchical government system, and the feudal economic system, with new democratic and liberal ideas in the areas of politics, science, psychology, sociology, and economics.
