There is a definite difference between sub-cultures in the English language, and if you're not used to some of the sub-cultural differences then it can be annoying, etc.
For instance, a common complaint about people from India, Pakistan, etc is that they are "all business" to the point that they come off as rude -- it seems that they don't have a funny bone in their body.
New Yorkers (from NYC) are famous for being direct and to-the-point. They don't think of themselves as rude... it's the way that the world works there... but someone from, say, small town Indiana would be put off. Conversely, New Yorkers wish that midwestern small town people would stop babbling and get to their point, hopefully before the next ice age.
The advantage of meeting people from different places is that you get better at quickly determining "where they're coming from" and realize that somone from a different subculture isn't being purposely rude, or for that matter, purposely "dense/slow/stupid" in their words. Given a chance, most people want to be liked, and you have to give them that chance.

If you mean by "blunt" being straight forward and honest, then no.
Being "blunt" gets right to the point, doesn't it? Why beat around the bush? Most people aren't honest anyway and when they are asked a blunt question tend to compare rather then answer. Like, for example, women who dye their hair are always saying things about other woman who dye their hair. As if that changes the fact that they do. Funny, but that is how most people are.

Absolutely not. I would rather for someone to be straight to the point(without being offensive) than to try and word the question and start a ruckus. That's a very good question and I hope you get some positive feedback!
