A few nights ago i had sort of an experience...I have read about astral projection but this was just weird. I was asleep but my mind was awake and then i get this tingling sensation and i started to panic in my mind but still i was calm and continued thinking then i felt as my soul was being ripped out of my body. i was floating and all i could see was darkness and red, yellow,blue "stars" floating i paniced at went back to my body was this astral projection...or was i dreaming?

yay! you've had ur very first astral projection. ur a lucky girl. my boyfriends had one too. i've always wanted to have one, but i can't be in a calm state of mind, and i focus my awareness on the physical world. now you can go wherever you want whenever.
and don't listen to those assholes. they obviously don't know what they're talking about. my boyfriend has a book on it, and i've read it. so yes, you did.

It may have been a lucid dream becoming an astral projection. This is known to happen, and panic could indeed send you back.

I'd ask this over in Religion & Spirituality. Although I personally am inclined to believe that all "supernatural" events that people claim to have experienced has a scientific explanation (some that we do not know yet), this is a bit new age for the physics board.

if are sure and aware of this its posible, the lights you saw were probably from the astral plane. plese do not do this without protection and i recomend reading some books on this subject if your interested

It's called dreaming. Everybody does it. Every night.
Also, this is not a physics or science question.
It belongs in spirituality or some other hooey that deals with the "soul".
By the way, if your mind was awake, then you were awake.
