I hear and read a lot of liberal claims that conservatives referring to terrorism is a scare tactic. Isn't the liberal media doing exactly the same thing when it consistlently says that fighting them is causing more terrorism?

If the media is controlled by the government then you would think that they would be trying to make the current government look better instead of glomming on to every little thing that they can to make the administration and America look as bad as they can get away with.

The only media controlled by the government is the military news and what the White House chooses to release through the press secretary, Tony Snow. Most of the main-stream media is liberal-leaning. The reporters in this day and age have gone far past just reporting the news and are doing their own editorializing in the cause of slanting the news to push their own agenda.

Your point - about an inconsistency between the claim that "gov't controls the media and media generally bashing the president - is a good one. The fault of the media is not that it is supporting terrorist agendas, but that it sells out to what people want to hear. I shall never forget a time, only about a month after the September 11th attacks, when a very respected and reputable TV journalist, Peter Jennings, spoke the word "cops" in an evening newscast (this was maybe only 30 days after many policemen were killed in the World Trade Center, and proclaimed heroes), and he immediately corrected himself, "police", he said with a brief, contrite smile. The problem is that they all play for ratings, and ratings is a popularity contest, and popularity follows from telling people what they want to hear. But what if what they want to hear and the truth are two different things?

It amazes me that you people still believe that there is a "liberal media"! That was a farce brought about by Joseph McCarthy in the 60s when he coined the term lashing out at a media that, while conservative, still spoke out against his evil tactics.

Fact: 97% of all media is owned by 5 conglomerates, including all "mainstream" media. The owners of all 5 conglomerates are active members of the Republican National Convention, and among the top contributors to Republican Party candidates.

It is a hard right media, and yes, they are using scare tactics to get you foolish people to agree to illegal and unneccesary wars. 60% of Fox news viewers still believe that we found WMD in Iraq. Over 80% still believe that Iraq had something to do with 9/11! Both of these things have always been known (to intelligent, thinking people) to be false, and even your precious "president" Bush has admitted that they were not true! They are constantly talking about terrorists to keep people riled up, while not covering the LIES and ATROCITIES that this Republican government is perpetrating!

Killing innocent people creates terrorism. It's a fact. If what has been done to them for the last century by the US and England had been done to you, you'd lash out too!

Just for the record...Fox News has lost millions of dollars every year that they have been in business, but Rupert Murdock (one of the 5 conglomerate owners) has kept pouring money into it from his other ventures.

Scare tactics are utilized by ability of the media so they make us think of the international all needs to 'stick mutually' which provides them extra means to regulate us..much less complicated for brand spanking new international Order to take much extra of a grip. The Swine flu become made in a lab to with any luck make us have those 'vaccinations' that shorten your life to convey down the international inhabitants...waiting for the subsequent one they try!

The media uses scare tactics all the time. The AIDS crisis was the biggest scam of all times. (Not that aids isn't serious) But at the rate the media reported the trasmission, every man, woman and child is the US would've been dead a long time ago. This was done to procure more funding for AIDS research --which now gets more funding that the top four killer diseases combined.

The media deals with sensationalism. It's like watching a scary movie. The more scared you get, the better the movie. The news media does the same thing.

The media is really doing a number of this country and they are the reason for the divide as deep as it is. They are nothing but a bunch of parrots with opinions. They no longer report news. They are trying to dictate policy and as long as idiots believe them, they will continue to rein their lies and terror on the poor unsuspecting public.

Remember the whole Y2K thing?
It's all a vicious circle. Turn off the TV and listen to music on the radio.

The whole war-thing is just a way to spur on the economy.

The media is a bunch of hypocrites. They just want to push their agenda. The facts have no meaning.
