Even having a baby at 38 weeks can sometimes have risks, although it's only 2 weeks off your 'full term' those 2 weeks are really important to the baby for gaining weight and if babies were meant to be born at 38 weeks then that would be how long pregnancy would last. However, with your problems, I would discuss this with your Doctor and see if they think it would be worth the risks, you could ask for a membrane sweep (normally done at 40 weeks if your showing no signs and can sometimes help to get things started). I know it's difficult but you obviously know yourself that the best place for your baby to be is in your tummy for another week or so...good luck with it all.

Okay, well heres what could be attributing to your back problem, which is common, the baby is turned face up and in position. And that is what is called back labor, the worse!
My third child, the last month was rough and super painful, it is because the childs tailbone is allined with your and tht creates pressure. The only cure birth. But no such thing as inducing only helping to get things slowly started sorry.
Try heating pads onm low setting.
also reflexology, says to have your ankle srubs right below the bone to get things moving.

I think an early induction under your circumstances would be A-OK. I just turned 38 weeks and I am having an induction done on Wednesday. My doctor said the baby is full term and it would be fine. I'm having an early one because the baby seems to be big. I think you have a legitimate health reason to have one and I'm sure everything will be fine. Good Luck and enjoy your little one.

It is always best for the baby's heath to go full term unless there are risks of compactions. But that being said my last boy was big and I carried him low . my back killed so I get where you are coming from. Nothing really works better than mother nature, you could try spicy foods, But walking and sex are still the time tested true home remedies.

You could consider induction. However, check out this web site before you decide to talk to your doctor about it. It sounds as if you are suffering from a medical condition, so your doctor will probably be ok with induction. But that's only if he considers it to be a serious problem for you and/or the baby.
Good Luck.
