Opening dialog is good.

Both religions teach to come to peaceful arrangements over violence (which was Pope Benedict's speech), and open dialog. It is my understanding that the leaders of Islam do not have much power since there is not any central voice in Islam. Each community/ individual interprets the Koran as they please. Dunno, this is what I have learned from stuff like the History Channel & other media's.

Certainly, if the Pope hurt anyone's feelings by educating students in a college in Germany about ending violence, then he should humble himself. I do not believe that educating a small group of college students the past history between these cultures should prompt violence, but sadly it did.

My fear is that the evil one is using his temptations to the violent men; and sin fuels itself with it's lust for sin ... in this case, violence is the sin.

Only God knows.

I pray that much will be accomplished.

In my opinion, although what the Pope said was true, he said it in the wrong way to the wrong people.

If you are going to give a constructive criticism to your neighbor (Islam) then you should do it to his face not behind his back.

The Pope's speech used Islam as a bad example of "faith and reason" to a group of Catholics when he probably could have found a better bad example in Catholicism.

Therefore it was appropriate for the Pope to apologize.

With love in Christ.

I feel the only way the Pope will accomplish anything with Muslim leaders is if he agrees to convert to Islam. Remember their beliefs are that you convert or die,

What do you think? Only thing these people seem to understand is you must die or convert.
