You know the whole Hi how are you gig. Is it just me or do people seem less genuine than they did when you were younger.

And why do you feel that way?

I believe people are in a rut. They say the same things. "Hi, how are you." "Fine" and you?" Or "Have a good day" I try to change it by saying "that is a beautiful blouse, or outfit, or shirt you have on." Or "I hope you have a very nice day or evening." Everybody is in the same routine, go to work, mow the grass, clean the house, do the laundry. There has to be other things in the life to change this.

I don't see anything routine about people, they come in all sizes and shapes and modes of dress. As for what they say, if you mean the superficial stuff - greeting each other on the street or addressing a cashier, yes, that's pretty routine, but if they're engaged in a conversation that calls for opinions or ideas, then no.

Oh yea. It seems to a cheap way to feign interest in the other person. You can typically see right through it, as if they are just going through the motions. Like it is what society expects from them in that situation.
