I'm writing an essay on horror films and i need to talk about all the techniques used. One is lighting, and i need to say why they've used certain colours. And I cant think what green could symbolise in the horror sense.

Its not really that much of a gory film, the only blood involved comes from a nose bleed. It is a really great short film though. You can watch it on Atom films for free without downloading it. It's called Virus.

Well, it depends on the color of green you're using, I guess. A soft, pleasant green could be a comforting color, while a sharp, nasty green builds suspense.

Perhaps the colour green can be associated a beautiful landscape with trees and grass, majestically swaying the the light breeze. Of coarse this does not have anything to do with a horror film, unless this landscape was to open up, and the devil himself came out of hell and burnt this landscape into a lifeless wasteland.

Green light is also used in Horror Movies to simulate a sinister atmosphere.

Green reminds me of money & envy but in a particular Horror movie call "The Re-Animator", there was this green glowing stuff that they injected into dead bodies.

Green could be open rotting souls or sores, the color of skin that is starting to rot. Many things could be green, little mean men from outer space.
