When you focus only on your needs then you become selfish. When you can let go of your own motivations and agenda's for the benefit of something better than you is when you receive the benefits of the true gifts you seek (religious or scientific).

I don't always follow what I like from the beginning. If I need advice, I listen carefully to the person that I have asked. How they reply influences what I do.
Opinions come from what a person thinks the world should be. Experience comes from what the person has actually seen or done. They are two different things,
I listen to the experience of people who have actually seen or done something because I can avoid the mistakes they made or take the advice they have. I don't listen to opinions from people who have no experience in what the mistake is.
If the experience the other person gives me doesn't feel right to me, I thank them for talking to me. Then I research the decision myself and make my own decision.

when people give advice.. they present what worked for them. it is your duty to pick out the things that pertain to your situation. we decide right and wrong..by biblical standards..societys standards,,common sense. you cannot omit those factors..i am sorry. you know if i said.. well you should cheat because your husband cheated. that is dumb advise why? because it is going to have a negative result. it does not solve the problem ,,.it only complicates matters. after a failed relationship .,one person might say get right back out there and find a new man.. another might say get to know your self.. take time alone... before jumping out there. NOW, what do you do? both,,may work to help you move on... both actions have proved successful.. but which one is right for you? advice gives you options to choose from... makes you think of things you may not have considered. advice gives you the bigger picture.

Experiences differs, everyone has their own and own biases. You won't ever always get objective advice from anyone. Its okay to seek advice, but ultimately, the final decision is your own to make.

In the end, we have to take responsibility for our own decisions and actions. Right or wrong.

i think it is important to listen to other peoples' advices and afterwards see if your will to do the same thing has the same strength...but follow your heart or your intuition...as Germans say "Bauch Fuhlung"...you are the only one who knows what's best
