How are you trying to connect ??
Through a wireless connection or through the ethernet ?
Are you using a desktop or this a laptop ?
If you are gonna be using a wireless what card do you have ? Well .. what type of modem do you have? Does it have a Gui .. ? that you need to bridgemode...??
Well I know how to configure the Linksys router .. But how do you plan to use your Linksys the PPPoE holder or the DHCP ?
I have a lot of questions .. If you will answer them I will be able to help you... How bout you contact me through the email and I will give you the steps ...

I had exactly the same problem I contacted Linksys and this is what they said:
Based on the information you have provided, you were unable to set up the router using the setup disk perhaps due to some configuration errors and conflicts. To fix this problem, we suggest that you configure your router using the following options:
To hard reset the router, please follow the instructions below.
1. Make sure that the device is turned on.
2. Press and hold the reset button.
3. Remove the power plug while the button is pressed after 10 seconds.
4. Let go of the reset button and turn on the device.
For instructions on how to manually set up your router, please refer to these links below and choose which applies to your setup.

hello
you conncet the ethernet cable to the back of the router on the port that is marked ethernet then you take the other end of the cable to the ethernet card on on the back of your pc you conncet it to the port marked ethernet
then you conncet the other cable to the back of the ruter port that is marked DSL then you take that cable to the fillter box conncet it to the port marked on the fillter marked DSL
then you conncet the filter cable box to your phoneline box
conncet the power cable to the router and put the power on
now you put in the cd driver that came with your router
and you install the network drivers
now you need to set up a network id & password on the router
you will be told how to do all that when you install the drivers & software for the router
when you have install the drivers and software fo r the router
your need to restart the pc
when your back at the desktop
you will see a network icon in the taksbar by the pc time
if it has a red X on it right click it and click on enable
if you dont see a network icon in the taskbar
click on start/control panel
click on
network and internet connections
icon
then click on network connections icon
now right click the
local Area connection
icon and click on properties
tick the box
show icon in notification ares when connected
tick the box
notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity
now click on
then authentication tab at the top
tick the box
enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for network
tick the box
authenticate as computer when infomatiion is available
then right click
local Area connection
and click on enable
now your router internet will log online with in 45 seconds
when your router is online you conncet your phoncable to the filter marked
phone
now when your router is online
if your network cuts out at any time just right click the network icon by the pc time
and click on repair that is on the 2 computers you can do this then windows xp will repair the
network for you and it dont take long at all
if you cant set that up
your be better off if you get you (isp)server to help you set all that up

WHat exactly is wrong? If you follow the steps in the quick setup guide it should work perfectly. If you have XP SP1 upgrade to SP2 there is an issue with SP1 and wireless connections.

We had exactly the same problem, contact lynski and the customer service support is 2nd to none. They will stay on the phone and talk you through every step of the way, and its a free tel. no.

contact lynksis direct they are brilliant and will have it all working in no time at all and if you have laptop as well they will configure that for you too they did for me and no probs the customer support is second to none they will help you im positive

i think that's called linksys... you have to be connected to the internet before you configure the linksys router. once your connected to the internet, call Linksys: 1-800-326-7114 ..
