this will help u with other things than meters:
as u can see the main word is "meter" and each of them is preceded by a prefix. Here's what the prefixes mean (at least the main ones):
- nano: 1/1,000,000,000th (of the unit)
- micro: 1/1,000,000th
- milli: 1/1000th
- centi: 1/100th
- deci: 1/10th
- : 1 of the unit
- deca: 10 (10 times the unit, rarely used)
- (forgot the 100 term, also rarely used)
- kilo: 1,000
- mega: 1,000,000
- giga: 1,000,000,000

The entire metric system is based on these prefixes...There are only a few, you should be able to learn this very small amount of information.

We use it here in Oz... millimetre is the smallest...(we also spell it differently here too)...(look at space between the two " ll "'s..)
Centimetre...(is nearly half an inch.)..
One metre.. (Is slightly bigger than a yard, 39 and half inches)
Kilometer..we use instead of miles...(for distance and also the speed at which our cars are travelling)......Hope this helps...
