By this I mean, I think someone was using my comp. I want to find out at what time is was used, and the date. Maybe this sounds silly but I was hoping it would stay stored somewhere in the computer.

As far as I know, there is no single source of information you can rely on for this, but there are hints left around your PC to give you a good indication.

1.) Access to the Internet.
Checking your web browser history will reveal recent sites accessed by your computer. The information you find here simply tells you when those sites were visited and this will only be useful if browsing the web is all they did on your computer.

2.) Recent documents.
Another place you can check is the document history. On Windows the document history is updated each time a document is opened. This list will tell you which documents were last modified on that computer. You are able to get the exact dates by looking at the properties of the documents.

3.) Recent applications.
The list of recent applications will reveal what programs have been running on your computer. Running the "Add or Remove Programs" applet can give you this information (the applet lists programs by Name, or you can sort them by date of last use.

These are the simplest ways of tracking usage on your computer. There are other ways but those would require a good knowledge of the Operating System you are running.

People, who have already answered your question, explained how to find out if someone has used Internet Explorer on your computer. However, are you asking if someone used your computer for any activity? If so then you need a keylogger. A keylogger is a spying program (a.k.a spyware). The program records any actions on a computer. There are both free and commercial keyloggers. Most people consider the programs to be unethical, which is why I hesitate to tell you where you can find one. Can you tell me why you need one?
