You obviously need to do something that interests you-
There would be no point working in a cafe if you wanted to be a solicitor.
Many firms are encouraged to take young people on, and I'm sure that you will find someone.
The point of work experience is for you to experience something that you may like to do, to see what you think, and give you an idea if that is the path you wish to follow.
My friends daughter wants to be a vet and approached the local Veterinary Centre. They were more than willing to take her on but told her outright that she should only be there if that is what she was interested in.
People are not going to give up there valuable time and energy on someone that is not genuinely interested in what they are doing.
She loved every minute of it but decided that she could not cope with the sight of some of the bloodier moments that she came to experience- She has now decided that dog grooming is probably the better route for her. So in the end it benefited her greatly.
Good luck and hope it all goes well for you!! :o)

If you're in a largish city why don't you try some local record labels or recording studios - the music industry can be great fun, the people good and you might get some good freebies on the way too!
Wherever you go, try and be interested, keep focused on what ever they ask you to do and do it the best you can - and you'll be on the way to a rewarding career in whatever field you try.
Good luck

Depends where you live, if you were near where I live you could get work experience in my sons' music studio. They take on a couple of students each year and the students love it. They also get introduced to a musical instrument and shown the basics of how to play. It would be something different for you and there are follow up courses at college. It could become vocational and the money is great when you qualify........

It would have to be something you enjoy. Theres nothing worse than working somewhere you find boring or useless. See, I love films, so for me working in a video store would be great... or a production company ideal!!!
Do what you love......
(I did work experience in a Child Care Nursery.... the longest, most irritating week of my entire life!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND.... unless you like kids of course!!)

If you want to make a sencible decision you need to pick somewhere thats based on where you would like to work later on, eg a magazine if you want to become a writer/editor, or choose something you would enjoy.
If your looking for something purely fun try a movie studio or aTheme Park

If it is possible, take a cruise up to Alaska. This time of year Alaska is absolutely beautiful and I believe it is an experience everyone should try once!
