I have a sign in my front yard every third missionary will be shot, the second just left, and while it keeps them from knocking on my door, they still leave phamplets in the mail box! But why do those religions insist on imposing their will on others?

There are religious people who shove their beliefs on people just as there are many liberals who impose their beliefs on people. The First Amendment allows the free practice of religion and bans the government from stopping people from practicing theirs. Banning prayer in school violates the 1st Amendment. The ACLU sues when a nativity scene is put on public property.

There are some religious people who believe they must share their beliefs. It is part of their religion. Some are just proud of what they believe in and want to bring others in.

Then there are religious people who think they can tell others how to live their lives. I have found there are a lot of these people in the NY area. They feel they know what is best for others and try to tell them what to do. They lack humility. This problem is not limited to religious people. There are politicans that do this. It is a widespread problem in this country.

sturdy answer Josh!! in any case, the way i seem at that is that this: If somebody claims to be Christian, then that is pleased with me. It does not unquestionably count in the event that they are real Christians or no longer. Who am I to declare they are incorrect for his or her ideals. they have purely as lots suitable as I do to have faith what they want. the concept that the only Christian denominations that are "real" are people who have faith interior the trinity does not be attentive to the way the trinity got here into being (the seen the trinity). do we've faith in a trinity? In a manner. We have faith that God, Christ and the Holy Ghost make up the Godhead. Are they one in being? i do no longer think of so. there are a number of things that lead me to think of this, yet considering that that wasn't component to your question, i'm going to bypass away it on my own. i do no longer understand why others do no longer think of that Catholics are Christian. Does every person be attentive to the way their church got here into being? What church become it in the previous it become what it become on the instant? i think of in the event that they traced their roots, they might locate that many of the Christian religions on the instant broke off the Catholic faith. i be attentive to i'm going to get some thumbs down for that assertion, although that's the certainty. no you may actually tell me i'll hell yet God. that is as much as Him, and in my view, i've got faith that if I stay my life in accordance to Christ's teachings, I won't have a undertaking.

I think atheists and agnostics should be just as vigilant about imposing OUR beliefs-- disbeliefs.

I mean, WE are the ones who actually have FACT to prove OUR opinions!!
What do they have? an ancient book written by primitive men in the bronze age?
Come on now. PRogress can only be made when we all learn to think based on logic and evidence.

Because their beliefs cannot be true if you can believe something else. The only possibility available when your faith is absolute is that those who don't beleive are misguided or confused. In their mind they're helping you out.

the ones actually going door to door believe in their hearts they are "spreading the Gospel" they them selves mean you no harm.
Perhaps a simple sign on your door saying no solicitation would be less provocative and would not invite the conflict.

They want you to know that God loves you. The Lord will forgive you for all of your sins. If you put your burdens in God's hands, you will have joy in your life.

part of Christianity is to "testify" to others, that is to spread the faith
by telling others.
unfortunately, a lot of people cant do this without being overbearing about it. if you don't want them to come back just tell them no thank you an please don't come back

Most religions have the same goal: They want you to find peace, happiness, and salvation. Does it offend you that they want you to be happy?
